Mangalore, December 26: Facebook abuse accused Puneeth Raj Kottari and eight of the 21 other co-accused were today arrested by Kadri police in connection with a complaint filed by social activist Vidya Dinker. It is learned that Puneeth Raj Kottari, a self styled ‘co-convener’ of Bajrang Dal district unit, was later remanded to judicial custody while the 8 other co-accused were released on bail.
In her FIR filed on December 24th, Vidya Dinker had identified Puneeth Raj Kottari and another Hindu Right Wing Facebook Group called ‘Veera Kesari’ for threatening her with rape, violence and murder.
It is also learned that Pandeshwar Police have arrested 6 persons in connection with forcibly preventing the screening of ‘Dilwale’, a Bollywood movie starring Shah Rukh Khan in the city’s multiplexes. The attack on the multiplexes was allegedly carried out by miscreants belonging to Bajrang Dal and the police had filed a case based on a complaint given by Vidya Dinker, convener of Citizens’ Forum for Mangalore Development.
Bajrang Dal had called for a Boycott of the film as Shah Rukh Khan had earned the wrath of the Hindu Right Wing organizations for expressing his views on the issue of ‘Intolerance’.
