Mangaluru, Dec 20, 2019: Situation is by and large peaceful in Mangaluru which had witnessed violence during Thursday’s protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act, eventually leading to the killing of two persons in police firing after the situation went of control.
With curfew enforced in the Commissionerate limits as a precautionary measure, all shops, business establishments, hotels and restaurants have downed their shutters. Medical stores, milk supply and such other essential facilities have been permitted.
Police have maintained a strict vigil across the city. Buses proceeding towards Mangaluru from Udupi, Manipal, Karkala and other places are allowed to come only upto Suratkal. No bus is allowed into the city.
People who are arriving by train are the worst hit.
