Mangaluru July 01, 2016: The Mangaluru City Corporation Health Officer’s raided the Shops in City Center Mall located at the heart of the city on July 01, Friday. They raided the shops on the basis of lacking Trade Licence and use of polythene bags.
Kavitha Sanil, Chairsperson of MCC Health Committee had informed the traders in press meet on June 16 about the trading licence. She also gave a deadline for renewal till June 30. They were rumours that the MCC always targeted the poor .
But this time they began the raid from City Center Mall. Most of the shops run here were without a proper trade licence and some not yet renewed. To be on the safer side many traders pulled down the shutter of the shops.
There were 8026 licence yet to be renewed .The plastic bags present in the shops were siezed. Health Inspector Manjayya , Environmental Officer Madhu and other Health Officers were present.
