Mangaluru, Apr 28, 2015: The Students Federation of India (SFI) which has taken up cudgels against donation menace in private schools, staged a protest in front of the DC office here on April 28, Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Kuttar, District President of the SFI said the high donation collected by private schools in contravention of rules, has deprived poor students of an opportunity to get admission to private institutions. The problem is compounded by the fact that the number of government colleges in the district was less compared to private colleges, he added.
He also demanded action against schools taking high donations and requested measures to strengthen the District Education Regulation Committee.
Dinesh Hegde Ulepady, advocate, who also spoke, alleged that many schools were not strictly adhering to the RTE Act.
Prof. Narendra Nayak and many others participated in the protest.
