Mangaluru, July 15, 2015: Kukke Shree Subramanya-Mangalore Railway Commuters Forum, Puttur, expressed displeasure at the proposed cancellation of Train 22636/65 Mangaluru-Madgaon Intercity Express for 30 days in November. In a letter sent to Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu, Sudarshan organiser of the Forum claimed that the train is in fact being cancelled for not having sufficient revenue/passenger availability.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the public of the region for spearheading the task of Indian Railway, he said the forum is certain that his efforts will yield results and ensure better railway facility/services the earliest. Noting that the reason given by KRCL is that the above train has been cancelled for 30-days to facilitate repair of pit line in platform number 3 of Mangaluru Central Railway Station, Sudarshan said when so many trains are operating from Mangalore Central station, why have the authorities ordered cancellation of Mangalore-Madgaon Intercity Express. He said as per data from passenger survey it clearh that the train was running with few number of passengers.
The reason for poor useage of train is that four trains namely Mangaluru-Madgaon train 56640/41, Verna passenger train 56665/66, Kasaragod-Byndore passenger train 16524, Yesvantpur-Karwar express and Intercity Express are running in 30 to 60 minutes gap from Mangaluru upto Madgaon.
Looking at passenger’s interest and density. There is a need to examine the timings and the trains should be rescheduled. In view of lack of passenger availability in train 22636/35, Sudarshan suggested that the said train may be extended upto Dadar, Mumbai under Central railway tri-weekly.
