Mangaluru, Nov 29, 2016: The Mangaluru City Corporation at its general meeting held here on November 29, Tuesday has decided to fill in potholes on all interior roads in all the 60 wards and also to complete patch works by December end. It was also decided to take up asphaltation works of main roads from February onwards.
At the meeting held under the presidentship of Mayor Harinath, members drew the attention of the Corporation towards the bad state of several roads making it difficult for pedestrians.
Lancelot Pinto, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Town Planning said pothole filling work is already in progress at Padil and Jail Road. The officials have been directed to submit the budget estimate for repairing main roads. The asphaltation works would begin later, he added.
When the water problem of Kavoor residents due to the frequent rupturing of water pipeline was brought to the notice of the MCC by corporators, the officials were instructed to lay a new water supply pipeline in the area.
MCC Commissioner informed the meeting that a Detailed Project Report was ready towards construction of 1100 houses on a G+3 model for the landless in Mangaluru City Corporation limits. A sum of Rs 55 core would be utilised for the building, while the DPR also mentions of Rs 15 crores towards provision of basic amenities which will put the total project cost at Rs 70 crores, he added.
