Mangaluru, May 16, 2016 : The golden jubilee celebration of popular Tulu play ’Bayyamallige’ of Sanjeeva Dandekeri was held at Town Hall on May 16, Sunday. The telefilm version of the play was released on the occasion.
Inaugurating the ceremony, Buntara Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha President Ajit Kumar Rai Maladi was all praise for artistes who struggle to showcase their talent by setting aside all their problems.
He also urged all artistes to pledge their support for the movement against the Yettinahole project which has staked the interests of the district and its lifeline River Netravathi.
Noted playwright Sanjeeva Dandekeri who also spoke, said the Bayyamallige Telefilm was ready in 15 days. He said the play has been translated in different languages including Konkani, Kannada, Marathi and English.
Regarding the telefilm, he said it was of one hour, 48 minutes duration and is directed by Damodar Bangera. R K and Chandrashekhar Bhat are the cinematographers. Tamma Lakshmana is the art director and Kishore is the producer, he informed.
The DVD brought out under the banner Jayaram Films was released by Mangaluru Mayor Harinath.
Dr. M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation said he still remembered his taking part in the plays authored by Sanjeeva Dandekeri. ’Bayyamallige’ which was scripted in 1996 has until now staged nearly 28,000 shows, he added.
Actors of Kannada serial Kinnari, Disha Ram, child actor, Chitranjali who enacted in Bayyamallige play, Jyothi Rai Karkala, telefilm producer Kishore, theatre artiste V G Pal and N V Poojary were honoured on the occasion.
