Mangaluru, Sep 24, 2016 :  A peacock died  after it was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Ekkur on September 23, Friday afternoon.


 Peacock dies in road


It is said that the peacock was flying  across the road at a low level when it was  knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

The traffic police on  duty in the area had immediately informed the Pilikula Nisargadhama. However  the officials there asked them to  inform the Forest Department.  The peacock had died by the time the Forest Department personnel arrived at around 3 pm.

The locals who alleged that the delay on the part of the forest personnel to arrive at the spot, had resulted in the death of the  peacock, even reprimanded the  forest staff for the same.

We have destroyed the forest to the fullest that the animals and birds have become Homeless. They move around as unaware of the vehicles

These species are endangered and we hardly get to see them . So sad, this is killed in the mishap
