Mangaluru July 4, 2016: A man drowns in sea while picking sea shells at Someshwar Uchila end point on Sunday July 3. A youth succeeded in rescuing two persons in this incident.

Deceased has been identified as Achyutha (43) resident of Kumpala. Achyuth along with his friends Sathish and Narayana went to sea shore to pick sea shells and got down to the salt lake to pick sea shells.

Due to sand mining there were huge crater and Achyuth was unaware of the crater. He was stuck in between and drowned while Sathish and Narayan did not know to swim.

On the other end six people arrived from pilar for the same reason. Out of them Harish (36) who was good at swimming noticed three people get drowned but Harish able rescue two of them.

Achyutha was daily wage worker and his wife employee in Hospital. Ullal Police have registered the case
