Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2018: Ola and Uber taxi drivers have threatened to resort to an indefinite strike from next week if the managements failed to fulfill their demands.
Speaking to reporters here on February 27, Tuesday, B K Imtiyaz, President of Dakshina Kannada District Online Taxi Drivers and Owners Association said most of the offers announced by the Ola and Uber managements to lure youngsters though look attractive aim at fooling youngsters who join the companies hoping for a good future. This has made it difficult for the drivers who have purchased their taxis by availing loans, he complained
Moreover the increase in the number of Ola and Uber taxis have only added to the problem and even the frequent change in the rates and deduction in incentives have proved a discouraging factor, he said and added that the association demands uniform incentivise.
He further alleged that the drivers are threatened that their service will be terminated if they approach the companies with their demands.
The taxi drivers need security and uniform rate plans, he said and added that they will resort to indefinite stir if the demands were not met with.
Office bearers of the Association Munawar Kuttar, Sadiq Kannur were also present.
