Mangaluru: Mid-brain activation a farce, says Prof. Narendra Nayak

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, April 18, 2015: The so called mid-brain activation courses offered by some institutions are now coming under fire  after Prof.Narendra Nayak, President of the Federation of Indian Rationalist Association debunked the claims of the institutions that they can create geniuses  by using mid-brain activation techniques.

Speaking to reporters here on April 17, Friday, Prof.  Nayak said many parents  were paying hefty fees to these institutions after falling prey to their claims  which were nothing but far from reality. Prof. Nayak has also challenged such institutions and  has informed that   the challenge will be held in public view at the KP Keshava Menon Memorial Hall at Calicut on April 19 at 2.30 pm. He also said anyone  who demonstrates a child’s ability to read blind folded as per the conditions laid down by him will be offered Rs 5 lakh as promised by him.

Now, even several experts have come out in the open  to rubbish such claims of mid-brain activation techniques. Neuro physicist KS Madhava Rao said mid-brain has  no relationship with intelligence and was present in all mammals.  The Cerebral of the brain is actually related to intelligence, he said.

Referring to a claim of the institutions offering mid-brain activation courses, another neurologist Srinivas Bhat who  serves in KS Hegde Medical Academy said  people should be beware  of such false claims as each child has its own level of intelligence. Mid-brain activation cannot be done and it cannot make children read blind-folded, he added.
