Mangaluru : Maharshi Valmiki Jayanthi celebrated

Mangaluru, Oct 5, 2017: Maharshi Valmiki Jayanthi was celebrated at Town Hall on October 5, Thursday on behalf of the DK District Administration, SC/ST Welfare Department, Kannada and Culture Department, Zilla Panchayat and DK District Valmiki Nayaka Association.

Inaugurating the programme, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, said Maharshi Valmiki by authoring the great work called Ramayana has conveyed the message that each one in this world should be an ideal human being.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Chief Whip of State Legislative Council, said Valmiki’s works should be an eye opener to the society at all times.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil, ZP Chief Kasturi Panja, Cashew Development Corporation Chief B H Khader, MUDA Chairman Suresh Ballal, Additional SP Sajith, Assistant Commissioner Renuka Prasad and DK Valmiki Nayaka Association President Haleshappa were present among others.

Students of the Valmiki community who scored high marks in PUC exams were felicitated on the occasion.
