Mangalore Mar 10, 2016: Secretary of SK District Swarna Vyapari Sangha Nagaraj Palke has said that the Association will organize a protest March on March 10 from Hotel Navaratna Palace to protest against some of the government decisions.
Speaking to the press at Hotel Navaratna Palace he said that in the recent central budget the government has introduced a levy of 1% excise duty, 1% TCS (Tax Collection source) and compulsory PAN card requirements for sales exceeding Rs 2 lakhs.
He also said that in protest against these Jewellery Federation and Indian Bullion and Jewelers Association have called for nationwide bundh from March 2nd which has been extended up to March 10th.
He pointed out the difficulties as jewelers have to maintain a different set of books of accounts as well as other documents which will be laborious. If the government failed to heed to the demand by March 10, the bundh will be extend upto March 15h, he added.
The jewellers from Udupi, Bantwal, Puttur and other neighbouring places as well as their staff and other goldsmiths will also participate in this Jatha.
