Mangaluru, Jan 12,2017 : As many as 25 new hi-tech patrolling vehicles of Mangaluru city police were launched by State Home Minister G Parameshwar at a function held at the Police Commissionerate office premises here on January 12, Thursday. The Home Minister also received a guard of honour on the occasion.
Speaking after the launch of the vehicles, the Minister said the vehicles which are equipped with tablets have all modern amenities including GPS devices. The vehicles would improve the response time and facilitate the police in reaching any spot of trouble in a matter of five minutes.
The Minister also informed on the occasion of the Department’s plans to introduce new patrolling vehicles in Belagavi, Mysuru and Hubballi too. Capital Bengaluru has got 362 new patrolling vehicles, he added.
The Department has recruited 16,000 constables in the state and measures are being taken to recruit an additional 8,000 constables and 1000 SIs, he informed.
Moidin Bava, JR Lobo, MLAs, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Chandra Shekhar, City Police Commissioner, Sanjeeva Patil and Shantharaju, DCPs and others were present.
