Mangaluru: Flower and Fruit show begins at Kadri Park

Mangaluru, Jan 24, 2016: The flower show and Fruit show that began in Kadri Park on Saturday is a reminder of the number of things, including flowers that we fail to notice around us in the every day bustle of life.

Veteran writer Erya Lakshminarayana Alva inaugurated the four-day exhibition. District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, MLA J R Lobo, MLCs Pratapchandra Shetty and Ivan D’Souza were present on the occasion.

 

 

 

The flower show in Kadri Park had all sorts: round, ball-like yellow and white flowers, shaded flowers, white flowers with thin long petals bunched together, white flowers edged with a deep purple or pink and standing on long stalks, red roses, round little flowers the colour of pink school uniforms, and dozens of colours, textures and some times smells.

Popular Abrasive Industries of Mysuru created a Yakshagana sculpture and flower sculptures including elephant, dolphin, peacock, penguin, musical instruments like violin, tabla, Mridangam and veena at the flowr show. They have used 12,000 roses to Yakshagana sculpture and 23,000 roses for other flower sculptures.he exhibition also has stalls selling seeds and saplings.
