Mangaluru: District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan inaugurated

Mangaluru, Mar 23, 2024: The two day Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan was inaugurated at the Town Hall in the city on March 23, Saturday by Dr Mahesh Joshi, State President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

Senior writer Bhuvaneshwari Heggade who presided over the conference said there was a need for people to speak pure Kannada language. There is need to give more importance to the purity of language, she added.

Parents must develop a love for Kannada among their children, Kannada schools must be developed, mobile libraries must be restarted and setting up of libraries in rural areas will go a long way in promoting Kannada language and Kannada books, she added.

District Superintendent of Police C B Rishyanth hoisted the national flag while DCP Siddarth hoisted the Kannada flag. The Kannada Sahitya Parishat flag was hoisted by District President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat M P Srinath.

A souvenir “Sahitya Siri” was released on the occasion. Apart from various literary sessions, an exhibition of Kannada books has also been arranged.
