Mangaluru, Sept 10, 2018 : The world famous Mangaluru Dasara of Shree Gokarnanatha Temple, Kudroli will be held this year from October 10 to 19. Deputy Chief Minister and State Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar is expected to inaugurate the celebrations, informed former union minister B Janardhana Poojary.
Speaking to reporters here on September 9, Sunday, he said the idols of the Nava Durgis and Goddess Sharada will be installed at the temple hall on October 19 and the colourful and grand Dasara procession will be held on October 19.
Poojary said as every year his elder son Santosh Poojary would be donating Rs 10 lakh towards the celebration while his younger son Deepak will contribute Rs 3 lakhs. The Festival could be celebrated grandly with the help of donors, he added.
He said the temple has so far not sought any grant from the government for the festivities.
More tableaux this year : Poojary informed that there were 68 tableaux during the Dasara procession last year and that this year the number of tableaux is expected to be much higher with many organisations evincing interest.
Harikrishna Bantwal, Urmila Ramesh Kumar, Temple Committee President HS Sairam, Padmaraj Karkera, DD Kattemar and others were present.
