Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2015: "Mangaluru Dasara 2015’ a unique celebration of the coastal city will kick start on Oct 13 and will go on till Oct 23 and Sri Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara temple is all gearing up to host the resplendent Mangaluru Dasara with all grandeur.
The temple committee spokesperson Harikrishna Bantwal addressing media said that the committee has decided to hold Brahma Kalasha to mark the silver jubilee of the temple renovation and also to seek the blessings of rain gods on October 16, specifically in the backdrop of Yettinahole Project.
He said that on October 11, the idols of Nava Durgas and Sharada will be installed and the event would be symbolically inaugurated by Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S. Murugan.
The temple would receive Hore Kanike (offerings in kind by devotees) on October 14 at Nehru Maidan at 3 p.m and then the procession carrying the ’hore kanike’ would move to the temple premises. Chandika Homa would be performed on October 21 and Anna Santarpane will be held on October 22. The Dasara procession would commence at 4.30 p.m. on October 23.
Crackers absent - lights galore : Crackers will not be burst this year during the procession as per the directions from the police as the roads the procession passes through have been decorated with electrical lights. The procession will witness 70 tableau and about 9 kms of the stretch where the procession would be passing through will be lit with over 20 lac decorative lights to add to the glory and glitz.
Wow, the Gokarnath temple is beautifully decorated with lights. The Navaratri is a beautiful festival and the love to move around the city as its shines with colorful lights.
Dasara in our school days would remind only of Mysore but now Manglore is overtaking Mysore. The nine days city looks bright and colorful with all the streets beautifully decorated with different varieties of lighting.
