Mangaluru Sep 24, 2016: The auspicious Navarathri Utsav and Mangaluru Dasara at Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Kshetra Kudroli will be celebrated from October 1st to 12th, informed HS Sairam President Temple Managing Committee.
Addressing Media at Kudroli temple today September 24 Saturday, he said that The preparations of Mangaluru Dasara is on full swing and there will be Pratisthapana of Sharada and Nava Durga idols on Oct 1st.
He also said that, soon after the prathistapana of the idols, various rituals will be performed in the temple during the ten days of celebration.
Annasantharpana will be held during the celebration and Maha Annasantharpane will be on October 13. On 11th the procession of idols and 75 tableaus along with dances of various folk artists will pass the main streets in the city and entire streets will be decorated with colorful lights.
Senior Congress Leader B Janardhana Poojary said that, Mangaluru Dasara at Kudroli temple is one of the biggest festivities in Karanataka. Dasara celebrations began 18 years ago when the shrine was renovated.
He further stated that, Mangaluru dasara common man’s dasara as it is not funded by the government as in Mysore Dasara and people of the city actively participate during the celebration. Nearly 75 tableau are expected to be part of this celebration.
Thousands of devotees, enthusiasts and tourists from across the state and country witness the popular Mangaluru dasara procession, he added.
Temple Managing Committee Vice President Raghavendra Kulur, Secretary Madhava Suvarna, Treasurer Padmaraj and others were present.
