Mangaluru, Oct 13, 2015: The Mangaluru Dasara -2015 celebrations at the Shree Gokarnanatha Kshetra at Kudroli in the city  commenced with grandeur on October 13, Tuesday. The festivities  began with the installation of the idols of Goddess Sharada and Navadurgas at the Gokarnanatha Kalyana Mantap of the shrine.

S Murugan, Commissioner of Police of Mangaluru lighted the traditional lamp to mark the auspicious occasion.

In his address, the Commissioner  while expressing his happiness to take part in the celebrations also exhorted the society to be committed to the principles advocated by Brahmashree Narayana Guru.

A Huli Vesha team was the added attraction of the day. The Huliveshadharis danced to the beating of the drums in front of the idol of Sharada as the installation took place.

Shubha Murugan,   H S Sairam, President, Kudroli Temple and other committee members including Padmaraj R, BK Taranath, K  Harishchandra, B Devendra Poojari, Leelaksha Karkera, Ravishanker Mijar, Raghavendra Kulur and others were present.

The  shrine as well as all the main streets of the town are illuminated with colourful lights adding a special charm and splendour to the celebrations which will conclude with a grand Shobhayatra on the evening of October 23.
