Mangaluru,  June 08, 2015: Mangaluru city and wide spread areas around  received showers on Jue 6 and 7. Thick and dark clouds covered the skies and the city received rainfall.

Udupi district received low to moderate rainfall too. Overcast  atmosphere that prevailed all through the day led to a drizzle in  Kundapur.  Kundapur taluk recorded 1.4 mm rainfall, while Udupi and Karkala taluks recorded no rain. It is learnet that the sea erosion intensified at Kodibengre village under Paduthonse Gram Panchayat. Giant sea waves washed away sand bags put across the seashore and houses in the adjacent area are under threat. At least eight houses and many coconut trees are in danger.

According to IMD reports,  the monsoon also entered Uttara Kannada district on June 7, Sunday. Karwar, the district headquarters received heavy rain. Light rain was reported from Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta and Ankola taluks. There was cloudy weather in Karwar since morning and it started raining before noon. There was widespread   rain till night. Vendors in the town and fishermen at sea had a tough time due to the showers. Fishing boats were at  anchor. All indications are that the SW monsoon is slowly progressing.
