Mangaluru, Jan 24, 2016: Pramod Kumar, Circle Inspector of Mangaluru Rural Police Station has been transferred to the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) of Chamarajnagar with immediate effect. It may be recalled here that Pramod Kumar was in the thick of a controversy recently after he arrested a person belonging to the minority community in connection with the Ulaibettu clash case. The order regarding transfer of Pramod Kumar and three other police inspectors were issued by ADGP ((Administration) Praveen Sood.
It was on December 8 last year that personnel of Mangaluru Rural Police Station had resorted to a protest against the reported orders of the higher-ups for Pramod Kumar to go on leave over the arrest in the Ulaibettu case. Though Pramod later resumed duty conceding to the demand of the protestors after the Commissioner intervened, the issue had failed to cool down. Meanwhile allegations were also heard that Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava who had claimed that the arrested person was innocent, wanted the department to initiate action against Pramod Kumar. The MLA had however refuted the allegations against him.
