Mangaluru Apr 13, 2016: Coastal Woods Super Hit Tulu Movie “Chaali Polilu” celebrated its successful run of 511 days in the city. The entire cast and crew celebrated its milestone at Town Hall on April 12.

Former Vice-Chancellor of KSOU Dr Vivek Rai formally inaugurated the grand function.

In his address Rai said that Tulu films play an important role in promoting and protecting Tulu culture. The people of   the city need to encourage Tulu movies to take Tulu film industry to a  higher level.

State Health Minister UT Khader said that  there was time when there was a fear that  Tulu language would vanish due to the influence of the West. But the Tulu theatrical groups have played a crucial role in promoting the language through different plays and cinemas, he added.  Tulu movies and dramas can be the best medicine  to get rid of tension, he opined.

Tulu Actor Devdas Kapikad  said coastal people have supported throughout whenever a Tulu movie was released. "Some movies have performed well and some may not but it was a learning experience   to correct our mistakes and do well in future," he said.

The entire cast and crew of “Chaali Polilu” was felicitated on the occasion.

In the recent Tulu Film Award “Chaali Polilu” bagged award  for the best film, Keshava Suvarna for Art Direction, Manikanth Kadri for Background Score, Veerendra Shetty Kavoor for Direction , Anuradha Bhat for Play back singer

 “Dabak Daba Aisa” Tulu Movie audio Launch

Dr. Hansaraj Alva launched the audio of upcoming Tulu Movie “Dabak Dabaa Aisa” which is directed by Prakash Pandeshwar under the banner of Jayakirana Films.

In his address Dr Hansraj Alva wished success to the entire team of “Dabak Daba Aisa” and hoped it would reach 1,000 days in the city.

Tulu film director and producer Dr Richard Castelino said that  Tulu film industry  which had witnessed a downward trend a few years ago  has now picked up with as many as 15 movies produced in a year. Tuluvas need to support Tulu movies and artistes, he added.

Journalist Jagannath Shetty Bala was felicitated on the occasion for his constant support to Tulu movies.

MD of Rohan Corporation Rohan Monteiro, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, T A Srinivas and others were present.
