Mangaluru : BJP stages protest against increase in property tax

Mangaluru, Dec 29, 2016: A protest was staged by the BJP in front of the Mangaluru City Corporation office on December 28, Wednesday to condemn the increase in the Property Tax under Self-Assessment Scheme.

Opposition Leader Roopa D Bangera who addressed the protestors, said the Congress which had promised not to increase the property tax, prior to the  elections, has failed to  keep up its promise. "Even senior leader Janardhana Poojary had made a similar assurance and had said the Congress government would not increase the tax. It seems the Mayor has forgotten the  promise made earlier," she said and mocked  Harinath saying that "The Mayor has dementia." The Congress has no concern towards the welfare of the people, she alleged.

Several BJP leaders participated in the protest.
