Mangaluru : Academy releases first ever Beary Calendar

Mangaluru, Feb 06, 2016: The First Beary  Calendar published by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy was released by eminent scholar and former vice chancellor of Hampi University Prof.  B.A. Viveka Rai at a ceremony held here on February 6, Saturday.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, he said the calendar which provides information on the festivals of all communities and religions was a true symbol of communal harmony.

`Belkiri’ a special issue brought out by B.M. Haneef who works as sub-editor of  Sudha weekly was released during the function.

In his address, Prof. A.V. Navada spoke about the calendars which the Basel Mission published since 1854 in true secular  attitude.

The function was presided over by BA Mohammed Haneef, President of the Beary  Academy. U.P Upadhyaya, eminent scholar, Abooabkker, DK district Wakf Officer, B.M Ichlangodu, Editor of Beary-Kannada-English dictionary, Umarabba, Registrar of the Academy  and others were present.
