Mangaluru, September 2, 2016: As many as 37 new vehicles that have been procured  by Antony Waste Handling firm with the aim of effective implementation of solid waste management in the city, were launched by Mayor Harinath at a  ceremony held in front of the MCC building at Lalbagh on September 2, Friday.

In his address, the mayor while pointing out that the MCC had received complaints that the waste management vehicles were not  visiting some areas,  urged Antony Waste Handling which is entrusted with the task to  ensure that its vehicles visited all areas for garbage collection. He said MCC which is presently in the third spot for waste management aims to be on the top position.

Kavitha Sanil, President of the MCC Standing Committee on Health thanked Antony Waste Handling for conceding to the request of the MCC and introducing new vehicles. She also stated that  the co-operation of the public plays a key role in effective waste management.

Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangaluru North also spoke on the occasion. Sumitra Kariya, Deputy Mayor, Shashidhar Hegde, former mayor, Opposition leader Roopa Bangera and others were present.
