Mangaluru: 2 prisoners released despite not getting bail

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, July 14, 2019: In a blunder of sorts, officials of the District Prison in Mangaluru had recently released two prisoners despite them not securing bail. Those released due to the folly of the jail officials were  Shivaji of Kadri and Jagadish of Bikarnakatte. Both are accused in the Kadri Rohith Kotian murder case which took place  near KSRTC bus stand at Bejai on May 15, 2016.

A court order  which the two had received was mistaken as bail orders  following which the jailers had released the duo on July  9 with permission from the Jail Superintendent.

The two meanwhile had happily left the jail and  the truth came to light when they contacted their lawyer. The surprised lawyer immediately brought the matter to the notice of the court.

The jail authorities later rushed to the residences of the duo and took them to custody.
