Mangaluru, March 7, 2020: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwatha Narayana inaugurated the 35th state level Journalists’ Conference at the Kudmul Rangarao Town Hall on March 7, Saturday. The event is hosted by the DK District Working Journalists’ Union.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said journalists are facing a challenging task of functioning with credibility while also upholding their professional ethics in this age of globalisation where monetary aspects gain more significance.
The Deputy CM also had a suggestion to journalists. He said journalists should refrain from giving more priority to political news as they do not serve any purpose for the common man,.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade was the chief guest at the event held at the late Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Vedike.
The souvenir brought out to commemorate the occasion was released by Taranga Editor Sandhya Pai.
The Deputy CM also inaugurated a cartoon exhibition organised on the occasion. DK District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated the photo exhibition .
State Working Journalists’ Association President Shivananda Tagadur presided over the function. MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Shetty, U T Khader, MLC and DCC Chief K Harish Kumar, ZP Chief Meenakshi Shanthigodu, SCDCC Bank Chairman M N Rajendra Kumar were present as chief guests.
Indian Working Journalists’ Federation President B V Mallikarjunaiah, noted music director Gurukiran. Asia Working Journalists’ Federation Convenor H B Madana Gowda, Mayor Diwaker Pandeshwar, Deputy Mayor Vedavathi, DK Journalists Union President Srinivas Nayak Indaje, Press Club President Annu Mangaluru, Patrika Bhavan Trust President Anand Shetty and others were present.
Senior journalists Manohar Prasad and Ravindra Shetty compered the programme.
