Mangalore boy Elston Pinto selected to play basketball at state level

Mangalore, May 10, 2012 : Elston Pinto of Mangalore is one of the Karnataka Sub Junior Team, which is now playing the Under 13 National Sub Junior Basketball Championship held in Goa.

Elston, a student of Std VIII at St. Aloysius High School, is being trained by Adithya Mahale. He is a member of the Mangalore Basketball Club and was part of the team that emerged as the champions at the state level recently.

His father Everest Pinto, who is also a sportsman, said that his son was selected based on his performance. His mother Mala Pinto, who is employed at a bank, said that her son is good at studies as well as sports and is involved in a number of activities. Although she would like him to focus on his studies, she feels that sports will help him. She is also happy that his team won in Goa.

The team is to play against Bihar on Thursday. Elston’s parents are with him in Goa as they feel their presence will encourage him.
