Mangalore, Apr 18, 2013: A woman who was found unconscious in a house at Kapikad, Bejai in Mangalore late night on April 17, Wednesday, later succumbed at the Wenlock Hospital. This is suspected to be a case of murder. Police say she might have been smothered to death.
The deceased is identified as Anjana,aged 24, hailing from Kerala. She is the daughter of Aravindan Unni and Prasanna Unni from Cheruyuru, Malappuram District, Kerala. She was working in Syndicate Bank, Katipalla, Suratkal as Assistant Manager. Syndicate bank officials haves identified the dead woman. The police has informed that Anjana’s mother Mrs.Prasanna, residing in Mannagudda and had filed a missing complaint in Barke Police station two days ago.
According to sources, Anjana had an affair with Mahesh who hails from north India and was working as a security supervisor at Hotel Poonja International. Mahesh had rented a house in Bejai, Kapikad belonging to Dolphy D’Souza.
On April 17, at around 8.30 p.m Mahesh brought Anjana to his room, when the owner of the house Dolphy inquired about it, Mahesh said that, she is his fiance and they will be married soon. At around 10.30 p.m when Dolphy came out of the house, he heard someone crying for help from the rented house. When he peeped inside the house there were no lights, everything was dark.
The girl was sitting on the chair and the rope was around her neck and she was in a critical condition. Dolphy informed Urva police. Immediately Urva police rushed to the spot and took Anjana to the hospital. On April 18, Anjana breathed her last in Wenlock hospital. Mahesh has been absconding ever since. Urva Police have registered a case and are investigating.
