Mangaluru, June 04 2018: Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. K Byrappa was accorded a warm farewell at a function held at the University campus on June 2, Saturday to coincide with the inauguration of the International Hostel, Lecture Complex and Animal House.

Blessing the occasion, Swami Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of the Mangaluru Branch of the Adichunchanagiri Mutt, said Prof. Byrappa who is a scientist and also a person with a religious bent of mind has proved himself to be a good administrator through effective implementation of various schemes.

Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation who spoke as a chief guest, said it goes to the credit of Prof. Byrappa for implementing a sports policy in the University wherein grace marks and cash prizes were awarded to university students who participate in national and international sports events and win medals.

Prof. NR Shetty, former VC of Bengaluru University, earlier inaugurated the programme. Kattera Suresh of the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Science, Bengaluru delivered the felicitation address.

Prof. Byrappa and his better half Prof. K T Sunitha were felicitated on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. K Byrappa said he served during the past four years by considering his post as  his  duty rather than an authority.

Registrar Prof B S Nagendra, Registrar (Evaluation) Prof A M Khan and others were present.
