The tree planting was done by Jeeth Milan Roche, the illustrious entrepreneur and environmentalist who is the founder of the Mangalore Green Brigade and has made it his life’s mission to plant trees all over the city. Roche has invested a significant part of his income to the cause of re-greening Mangalore and has planted over 50,000 saplings since he began working on this in 2004. He launched the Vanamahotsava by planting a lemon sapling in garden International Orientation Centre. One of the plants was gifted to Jeeth as a token of appreciation.

On taking oath as President of Mangalore Toastmasters Club last week, President Sapna Shenoy had listed out a 15-item agenda to celebrate completing 15 years of Mangalore Toastmasters Club. The first item on the list was Vanamahotsava or planting of trees.

True to her words, the she had picked 15 fruit plants on the installation day itself and decided to initiate the programme on 14th July  at International Orientation Centre, which is situated at the family residence of Max Rasquinha, the mentor of Toastmasters movement in Mangalore.

Many members of Mangalore Toastmasters Club as well as other Toastmasters’ clubs of Mangalore participated in this program to show their solidarity and to support the cause of greening Mangalore. The remaining 13 plants were distributed among the members of Mangalore Toastmasters Club to be planted in their homes.
