Mangalore, Jul 11, 2013: A small family is always a happy family, said District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai while inaugurating the World Population Day programmes organised at the APPCC Auditorium of District Wenlock Hospital on July 11, Thursday.
The function was organised by the District Administration, Department of Health and Family Welfare and NSS of Mangalore University.
Stating that the government has introduced awareness programmes to sensitize the masses on the need to control population, Rai said it was lack of education, superstitious beliefs, poverty and such other reasons that have led to population explosion. Awareness holds the key in population control, Rai said.
