Mangalore, July 27, 2013 : State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader has said that the Health Department would soon launch District Health Teams which will visit schools and examine students.
Participating in an Awareness and Outreach programme on ‘Malaria and Dengue Prevention’ held at Town Hall on July 27, Saturday under the joint aegis of the Health Concern Foundation and District Health and Family Welfare Department, the Minister said each team will be provided a vehicle and will have two doctors and two nurses. Every taluk will have one such team, he informed.
Continuing, Khader appreciated the efforts put in by Health Concern Foundation in arranging the programme and highlighted the role of youth in sensitizing the society on the preventive measures against spread of diseases like Dengue and Malaria.
JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South Constituency, in his presidential address, said the public need to extend a helping hand to the City Corporation as well as the Health Department in controlling Malaria and Dengue.
MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar, District Health Officer Dr Shivakumar, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Mohiudeen Bava, MLA, D M Majumdar, Deputy General Manager of Corporation Bank, Mahabaleshwar Bhat, General Manager of Karnataka Bank and Dr Edmond Fernandes, CEO of Health Concern Foundation were present as chief guests. Dr Uday Kiran and Dr Ramachandra Kamath were the key-note speakers.
A variety of cultural programmes were organized. A Quiz programme was also conducted for the audience.
Earlier, an Awareness Walk was taken out from Milagres College to Town Hall. The Health Concern Foundation members also visited places in the city which were affected by Malaria and Dengue.
