KUDCEMP Executive Engineer in-charge M Yashwanth Raj said drainage water from Bejai, Barebail area would  be channelized towards the wet well at Barebail from where it would be pumped to the Kavoor sewage treatment plant. From there it would be pumped to the tertiary treatment plant operated by MSEZ, he said adding the water  which is recycled would be used towards industrial needs while the filtered wastes  would be used as manure.

Yashwanthraj said the  wet wells are  equipped with two pumps of  75 HP pumping capacity and added one pump would be used as stand by. They are operated by auto sensor, he informed. If 70% of the maintenance cost of the three  wet wells are borne by MSEZ, 30 per cent of the costs will be borne by the MCC, he  said.

Presently,  there are 22 wet wells and four sewage treatment plants in Mangalore at Kavoor, Bajal, Suratkal and Pachanady respectively.
