Pointing to several complaints on the building constructions in violation of zonal regulations in the Mangalore City Corporation limits, he said that the MCC Commissioner has given an undertaking of initiating action against the erring builders. If at all the officials fail to abide by the orders of the Lokayukta court, they will face the contempt of court, he warned.  “In most of the cases, applicants have got the relief and a few cases were rejected as they were not genuine. Our objective is to redress the grievances of common people at the earliest, streamline the administration and take action against the erring officials,” he said.

Having noticed the problems of sea erosion and pollution in beaches of Mangalore, the Upa Lokayukta said that he has directed the deputy commissioner to address the problems.

“All in all there were 15,000 pending cases with State Lokayukta a year ago, of which 11,000 cases have been disposed. We intend to dispose 14,000 cases within next six months,” said Subhash Adi who is in-charge of 17 districts in the state.
