Mangalore : Journalists actively take part in sports meet

Mangalore, Mar 24, 2014:   Journalists from the city had a great time participating in interesting and fun-filled games and sports events organised at the St Aloysius Pre-University College grounds on March 23, Sunday. The programme was jointly organised by the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union and Mangalore Press Club.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Eminent body builder and former Mr World. Raymond D’Souza who inaugurated the sports meet, exhorted journalists to make time to participate in sports regularly as it would go a long way in keeping them physically fit helping them discharge their duties more efficiently.

Purushottam Poojari, Physical Instructor of Sri Gokarnanatheshwara College and Manohar  Prasad, senior journalist  spoke as chief guests of the occasion.

Outstanding sports personalities including Naveen Kumar Jogi,  Uma Bhagyalakshmi, Mari Hilda D’Souza and Narayana S, trainer were honoured on the occasion.

A variety of contests including banana eating contest, ice cream eating contest slow bike racing, passing the ball, cricket, needle and threat were conducted.

Among others present on the occasion were PB Harish Rai, President of DK District Working Journalists’ Union,  Ramakrishna R, Press Club President and Srinivas Indaje, Secretary of Journalists Union.
