Mangalore, February 14: The Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport seized gold weighing 932.500 grams in two separate cases today, February 14, 2014.
In the first case, the officers seized 2 gold sheets, totally weighing 466.000 grams and valued at Rs.14,09,650/- concealed in the base of a brown colour rexine trolley bag from the possession of a passenger named Shri. Shereef Abdulkareem, who is a resident of Cherukara House, Thekkil PO, Kasaragod Dt., Kerala-671541 and arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 14.02.2014 at about 17.30 hrs by Air India Express fight IX384 from Dubai.
In the second case, the officials seized 2 gold sheets, totally weighing 466.500 grams and valued at Rs.14,11,162/- concealed in the base of a black colour rexine trolley bag from the possession of a passenger named Shri. Riyas Kuchanath Purayil, who is a resident of Ennappara House, Chalingal, PO Haripuram, Kasaragod Dt., Kerala-671531 and arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 14.02.2014 at about 17.30 hrs by Air India Express flight IX384 from Dubai.
Operations were conducted under the supervision of Shri. Pravin Vinod, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport. Further investigation is under progress in both the cases, under the guidance of Commissioner Shri. D.Purushotham.
