Mangalore: Children’s festival inaugurated at Town Hall

Mangalore, Feb 7, 2013: DK Zilla Panchayath in association with DK District Administration, Women and Child Welfare Department, District Programme Implementation Samithi of Bala Vikasa Academy and Karnataka Bala Vikas Academy, Dharwad organized a ‘Children’s Festival 2012-2013 at Town Hall on Feb 7, Thursday.

Inaugurating the festival, ZP president Koragappa Naika said that the festival provided a golden opportunity for  children to interact with each other on various issues which interest them.

 

 

Presiding over the function, Karnataka State Bal Bhavan Society (KSBBS) Chairperson Sulochana G K Bhat said that the Bal Bhavan has previously  organized Bal Srujanotsav for children and further too it will hold children’s programme and help them to bring out their creative talent.

She said that it is the responsibility of Bal Bhavan and parents to make children real assets of the nation. Bhat also urged parents not to force children to learn the subjects of parent’s interest, but  give them freedom to pursue education of their choice.

Outstanding talents  Lakshmiprasad Achar, Harini, Akash Shetty, Bhoomika Priyadarshini, Swathi Bhat, Usha A, Prajna and Prithviraj were conferred with ‘Kalashree Award’ on the occasion.

Mayor Gulzar Banu, A. Shakuntala, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Child Welfare, ZP CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash, Deputy Director Public Instructions, (DDPI) Moses Jayashekar, Gopadkar, Director of Swaroopa, Asha Nayak, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Mounesh Vishwakarma and others were present.
