Mangalore, Jan 7, 2014 : DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai released a book on Pilikula Nisargadhama entitled ‘Envisioning A Green World’ authored by Steven David, on January 6, Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said there are plans to plant wide variety of saplings in the proposed Urban Eco Park which will be set up on a 10 acre land on behalf of the Environment Department in Pilikula. There are also plans to construct an auditorium close by the park, Rai said.
Later participating in a meeting held at the DC office, Rai has directed the officials to finalise land for the proposed Rangamandir in the city within a week.
He gave the directive at a meeting held at the DC office on January 6, Monday to discuss various other issues including the proposed Karavali Utsav and state level Yuvajana Mela.
Rai further said though foundation for a Rangamandir was first laid at Kadri Park, the project could not kick start due to legal hurdles. Even the foundation laid for the same at Bondel in 2010 met the same fate, he said adding this time there should be no delay and land should be identified soon.
The minister also directed to constitute various committees for the successful conduct of the state level Yuvajana Mela to be held in Vittal in the month of February.
Parshwanath, in-charge Deputy Director of the Youth Services and Sports Department said a budget estimate of Rs 35 lakhs has been prepared for the same.
Speaking about Karavali Utsav, Rai said the Utsav should reflect the culture and ethos of the region and added it should not be restricted to only commercial stalls. Due importance must be given to promote industrial and other handicraft products, he added.
DK District in-charge Secretary Bharatlal Meena, Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar, MUDA Commissioner Mohammad Nazeer, Additional DC Dayananda and others were present.
