Man stabbed at Shirva wedding hall; accused arrested

Udupi, May 07, 2015: A man who had come to attend a wedding at  the Saud Hall in Shirva was stabbed  on May 5, Tuesday afternoon, solely for the reason that he tried to pacify  a person  who had entered into a quarrel with the catering staff at the hall.

If the  injured person  is Naveed of Puttige in Moodbidri, the accused  has been identified as Antony D’Souza of Pilar village.

According to sources, Naveed saw  Antony  entering into a verbal duel with the catering staff, reportedly  angry over them  as  he who was earlier riding his scooter could not overtake their vehicle. Naveed who intervened tried to pacify both sides, but D’Souza who was in a rage, took out a knife which he had in his scooter and reportedly stabbed Naveed in his abdomen. It is said Naveed’s intestine came out due to the attack. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is recovering.

The accused was later arrested. He has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
