Mangaluru, March 28, 2016 : According to reports, miscreant took away a bag containing Rs. 9 lakh cash while the businessman to whom it belonged had just kept it on the seat of his two-wheeler to wear the helmet here on March 27, Sunday morning.
The incident at the busy Central Market area in the city; being a Sunday and festive day, the market was jammed with people.
According to Mangaluru North police, the victim — Navaz Hasanabba — was carrying cash to deposit it in the bank as soon as possible. He carried the cash in a laptop bag and came down from his shop to the parking lot before noon. He just kept the bag on his two-wheeler and Hasanabba turned to put on his helmet. As he turned, he found the bag containing cash had vanished.
He saw a person running with the bag., Hasanabba chased the person, but failed to catch him. Then, Hasanabba approached the police, who went to the spot and recovered the CCTV footage from a shop in the locality that shows a man fleeing the spot carrying Hasanabba’s bag. Efforts are on to nab the person, the police said.
