Malpe, June 12, 2015 : Traditional or country boat fishing commenced off the Malpe Cost on June 11, Thursday after fishermen offered prayers to the Sea lord.
As many as 2500 traditional fishermen divided into 43 groups have ventured into fishing from Kaup to Bengre and hope they would get a good catch this season when the mechanised boat fishing has been banned from June 1 to July 31 as always.
Fishermen venture into fishing in groups of 25 each in a boat during early morning hours and return before darkness sets in. They also hope that during the period when there would be inclement weather conditions, they would be able to do fishing without any danger to lives.
