Udupi, July 6, 2013 : A major case of marks card forgery has been unearthed with the district administration of Udupi finding that 13 persons who had applied for jobs of village accountants had submitted fake PUC marks cards. If eight have them have been appointed, five were selected but yet to joined training. All of them have been dismissed.
Informing this to reporters, Dr MT Reju, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi said a total of 24 persons had applied for the job which required a PUC pass qualification. But, 13 of them who had not passed PUC exams, had forged their certificates, he said.
It was only after eight of them had joined probationary training that the authorities grew suspicious as they did not know proper Kannada and lacked other basic knowledge. Their marks cards were sent to the PU Board and it came to light that they were forged.
The persons who had forged their certificates are Venkatesha M from Devanahalli, Bangalore, appointed at Kundapur, Basavaraj S P from Belur, Hassan, appointed at Aloor, Raghavendra P from Pandavapur, Mandya, appointed at Hermunde, Karkala, Kumar K from Honnavali, Davangere, appointed at Kantavar, Karkala, Laxminarayana K M from Chikkaballapur, appointed at Jepthi in Kundapur, Jayalaxmi S from Uchila-Someshawar in Mangalore, appointed at Udyavar, Lohitashwa N K from Channarayapatna, Hassan, appointed at Andaru, Karkala and Nagaraj G from Chikkaballapur, appointed at Molahalli in Kundapur.
As per a complaint lodged by the tahsildar, cases have been registered against the 8 persons who have already joined duty while action is yet to be taken against the other five.
