Mangaluru, Jan 22, 2021: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dakshina Kannada organised the district level launch of ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign under National Water Mission Scheme on Tuesday, 19th January 2021 at MSNIM campus at Bondel, Mangalore. Dr. Jagadisha Bala, Principal of Government First Grade College, Balmatta was the chief guest. He symbolically launched the campaign by watering a sapling before an audience comprising MBA students and the institute’s faculty.
In his address, Dr. Jagadisha Bala enlightened the students on the need for water conservation and rain water harvesting. He stressed on the importance of involving the youth in the revolutionary movement. “Building dams and digging bore wells are not the solutions for sustaining water. Mangalore is blessed with two monsoons. We need to make all efforts to conserve water showered on us in abundance during the rainy season. Let us begin the water conservation by saving at home,” he said, adding that those who talk about water management must plant a sapling first.
‘Catch the Rain’ campaign seeks to increase the involvement of the youth in promoting water conservation. Raghuveer Souterpete, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangalore is the Coordinator of the campaign.
Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director of MSNIM presided over the programme. Ms. Mithali compered the programme. Jeevan gave the vote of thanks. Mrs. Divya M. Shetty coordinated the programme.
