MRPL is all set to break into retail fuel market in state

Mangaluru, Nov 10, 2015 : MRPL - Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd. is soon expected to announce the opening of its retail outlets in the State, as it has received approval from its board of directors for setting up 122 fuel stations. 

 

 In an informal interaction with media Nov 9, MRPL managing director H. Kumar said that in a couple of weeks, MRPL would come out with advertisements announcing at least 60 retail outlets. They would be spread across the State initially, after which the company would think of expanding the network across the country.

The company would experiment a mixture of company-owned, company-operated outlets as well as company-owned, dealer-operated outlets.  On what benefits a consumer could get from an MRPL fuel station, MD Kumar said that the first benefit of course would be the quality of the product supplied. As it directly comes from the refinery, the quality is completely assured, he said.

MRPL would be more competitive in retail fuel supply, which includes pricing the products competitively wherever it faces stiff competition. As prices of petrol and diesel have been deregulated, MRPL could fix the price without affecting its profits.
