Belthangady, Sep 01, 2017: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has lashed out at the state government for its proposal to supply Netravathi water to Bengaluru.
Speaking to reporters at the BJP office here on Thursday, Nalin said the project was not aimed at supplying drinking water but was intended to supply cash to Congress leaders through Bengaluru-Mangaluru pipeline.
He also charged the state government of wasting a staggering Rs 12,500 crores towards a failed project called Yettinahole.
The MP further stated that the Bantwal-Charmadi road would be a four-lane road. Even most of the roads of the district will be upgraded within the next four years, he added. A sum of Rs 26 crore has been released for Belthangady from CRF, he informed.
To a question if he had dropped the fight against Yettinahole project, Nalin replied in the negative and added he was always by the side of the protestors. All movements which are fought in right spirit will be supported, he said and regretted the lack of good response from the public towards the movement .
On rumours that he may contest from Puttur during the next assembly polls, Nalin said there was no question of contesting Assembly polls when people have blessed him by electing him as MP.
As if Yettinahole itself is not enough, now they want Nethravathi water to be supplied to Bangalore. What will people of Mangalore do. As if from past 2 yrs, we are facing water scarcity. Why can’t they revive the arkavathi river and develop those lakes of Bangalore. Cauvery is under serious threat because almost all its tributaries are heavily polluted in the Bangalore region. Why state Govt is sleeping on these issues. Why can’t action be taken on these. Can’t these tributaries be saved and revived.
