Mangaluru, Feb 8,2017 : Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who raised the Kambala issue in Parliament on February 7, Tuesday,  has urged the Centre to take all necessary steps to allow holding of Kambala, the traditional sport of the coastal Karnataka region.

nalin kumar "Kambala is a folk sport  and the tradition is to make the buffaloes  run in slushy fields. There is no  instance of ill-treating or torturing the animals in the history of Kambala nor has there been any instance of a buffalo dying during the sport.

There are hundreds of Kambala fields right from Byndoor to Kasargod," the MP  said  during the winter session of the Parliament and drew the attention of the Government towards the need to permit Kambala.
