Mangaluru, Nov 18, 2018: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who inspected the Pumpwell flyover works on November 18, Sunday morning has blamed the state government for the delay in the works.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting the works he said the project was delayed as the land acquisition process was not completed on time by the state government.
He said the project works are in the final phase and are expected to be completed by January end. Traffic will be allowed on Thokkottu flyover by December end, he said.
He also cited various factors that led to the delay. Nalin said the delay in shifting the Brahma Kalasha structure at Mahaveer Circle, the proposal to have a bus terminus adjacent to the highway proved hurdles to the NH works which though were initiated in 2010 picked up pace only in 2016. Though the blue print of the NH was ready 15 years ago itself, the bus terminus project at Pumpwell necessitated change in the same. The delay in executing various processes by the state government, then Deputy Commissioner and elected representatives all led to the delay in completion of the works, he said.
NHAI Project Director Samson Vijay Kumar and other staff of Navayug firm were present.
