He said that the state government is demanding the Prime Minister’s intervention in spite of knowing that the Prime Minister cannot do so, given the verdict of the Supreme Court. "Instead, the chief minister should take a firm step to stop releasing water in the interest of the people of Karnataka," demanded the legislator.

Karnik, meanwhile, opined that the state government has not sought public opinion before putting its argument before the court. Due to shortage of water in the Krishna Raja Sagara dam, Bengaluru city is likely to face deep crisis of water in the days to come, he pointed out.

Responding to a query regarding a demand by a senior Congress leader that the elected representatives from Karnataka tender their resignations on the wake of the Cauvery issue, Karnik said that it was the opinion purely of the leader and he does not subscribe to the opinion.

Smart City  : DK, Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit president Sanjiv Mathandoor said that, in the wake of Mangaluru getting selected for the smart city project, the party will hold a meeting of corporators, MLAs and MPs from the BJP. The party will extend its cooperation towards the project, irrespective of party barriers, he promised.

Religious conversion  : He, meanwhile, condemned the attempts of religious conversion in Sullia.  "Innocent people are lured by money and are converted. The related cases are a challenge to the Police Department," he said and urged the state government to act immediately on the issue.

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has given a call to the government to take a firm decision on the Cauvery issue, in order to protect the interests of the people of Karnataka. Yeddyurappa has told the Chief Minister that BJP will cooperate in the issue.

Former MLA Yogish Bhat, State BJP Backward Morcha president Satyajith, MCC Council Opposition leader Roopa D Bangera, MCC members Sudhir Shetty, Premanand Shetty, leaders Umesh Kotian, Sudarshan M, district BJP secretary Ishwar Rai and treasurer Sanjiv Prabhu were present.
